About Troop 368 We are chartered by Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Algonquin, Illinois. We were charted by the chuch in 1994. Our Troop has about 50 Scouts in age from 11 to 17. We meet every Monday for our Troop Meetings at Light of Christ Lutheran Church at 7pm (except when there is no school) and welcome anyone who is interested to stop by. We have our meetings downstairs in the annex. Look for our Totem' sign. However, anyone interested can also contact us by sending us an email. We are a very active troop and campouts almost every month of the year. In addition to our regular meetings and campouts, we also participate in Summer Camps and High Adventure camping. We have the priviliedge of recognizing over 20 of our alumni who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Purpose The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America—incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916—is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. Specifically, the BSA endeavors to develop American citizens physically, mentally, and emotionally; have a high degree of self-reliance as evidenced in such qualities as initiative, courage, and resourcefulness; have personal values based on duty to God and country; have the desire and skills to help others; understand the principles of the American social, economic, and governmental systems; are knowledgeable about and take pride in their American heritage and understand our nation's role in the world; have a keen respect for the basic rights of all people; and are prepared to participate in and give leadership to American society.*Access areas for news activities, and photos Boy Scout Program Membership Boy Scouting, one of the traditional membership divisions of the BSA, is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade, or who are 11 through 17 years old . Since 1910, Boy Scout membership has exceed 112 million Scouts! The program achieves the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness qualities among youth by focusing on a vigorous program of outdoor activities. Boy Scout program membership, as of December 31, 2007, is: 851,472 registered Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Venture Scouts 524,962 registered adult leaders 41, 947 Boy Scout Troops |
